How do you know if you are Moderately or Highly Sensitive? Take the test of course!
If you have an inclination by now that you might be a sensitive soul simply answering the questions in this quiz might help you further understand yourself. This test was written by Elaine Aron in the late 1990’s. Her findings reveal that everybody is considered ‘sensitive’ to some degree. 30% of people can be classified as Highly Sensitive and 40% of us are deemed Moderately Sensitive. Strikingly, there are more Moderately Sensitive peeps in the world than Highly Sensitive! Hence the entire reason for this Blog.
So if you have family, friends or co-workers who think you tend to be the overly emotional one, the person in the room sensitive to loud conversations or strong smells, that you can be too empathetic for your own good or have big intense emotions towards something others think is not a big deal - you might fall into one of the ‘more’ sensitive categories above.

When I took this quiz, my jaw was on the floor. There were many things I related to instantly. It even made me teary reading the questions. I had never felt so seen. However some things did not relate or they just didn’t land in me with the same intensity as Elaine described. If you read my very first post here I explain that I started to doubt that maybe this was not me after-all, however Elaine continued to explain that there was a second group of sensitive people that are not as intensely sensitive as highly sensitive people. I knew then I had found my tribe. So even if you don’t relate to everything or even if you only relate to a few things but feel these things very deeply you may still be more sensitive than the majority! And that’s a wonderful thing!!!
I will endeavour to help you banish those days of thinking that being moderately or highly sensitive is somehow a weakness. I am here to remind you that THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH YOU and if you can understand yourself a little more than we really can learn to mange the more intense emotions we will inevitably continue to feel as Moderately sensitive people. If you check out my post about Panic Attacks you might pick up that the aim is not to get rid of the intense deep feelings, the aim is to equip ourselves with the resources to deal with them in more healthy ways.
I hope that one day we can all manage this trait and have it work for us and not against us!
